Behind every load of potatoes is a professional driver focused on doing the job safely.

During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we’re recognizing the 20 drivers whose commitment to safety, reliability and teamwork helps keep R.D. Offutt Farms moving every day of the year.

While much of the attention during harvest is focused on the fields, there is another team working around the clock to keep potatoes moving. Our trucking team plays a critical role in connecting our farms, storage facilities and processing partners, helping ensure the food we grow continues its journey to families across the country.

Keeping the Harvest Moving

At R.D. Offutt Farms, 15 semis operate daily, hauling potatoes from storage warehouses to processing plants 24 hours a day. Over the course of a year, our trucking team hauls approximately 11,000 loads and drives more than 700,000 miles, safely transporting potatoes where they need to go.

Their work often happens behind the scenes, but it is essential to our operation. Whether it’s a busy harvest day, the middle of the night or a weekend run, our drivers help keep the supply chain moving and support our mission of growing good food.

From seed delivery in the spring to harvest and storage operations in the fall, our drivers are there every step of the way. Their professionalism and dependability help ensure potatoes are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

Safety in Every Mile

At R.D. Offutt Farms, safety is more than a priority. It’s a responsibility we share with one another, our communities and everyone who shares the road with us.

Our trucking team takes tremendous pride in operating safely and professionally every day. In fact, we’re still proudly talking about this group’s achievement of more than 600,000 accident-free miles. That milestone reflects countless hours behind the wheel, strong safety habits and a commitment to looking out for one another.

Every trip begins with a focus on safety. From vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance to defensive driving practices and ongoing training, our drivers understand that every mile matters. Their dedication helps protect themselves, their coworkers and the traveling public.

The People Behind the Wheel

Although much of their work is spent independently behind the wheel, our drivers are part of a close-knit team. They support one another, share knowledge and step up whenever needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Many of our drivers have spent years with R.D. Offutt Farms, building relationships and earning a reputation for reliability, professionalism and hard work. They help move a potato crop that represents months of planning, growing and care, and they do it with pride.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the people who make that work possible.

“Our drivers take tremendous pride in what they do. They understand the importance of safety, teamwork and reliability, and they show that commitment every day. Whether they’re hauling potatoes in the middle of harvest or making deliveries throughout the year, they help keep our operation moving,” Sherri Tatro, RDO Trucking Manager said. “We’re incredibly grateful for their professionalism and for the role they play in helping feed families across the country.”

Thank you to every member of our trucking team for the miles you’ve driven, the loads you’ve hauled and your commitment to safety. We appreciate everything you do.
