Park Rapids Team and Partners raise $6,500 for Local 4H Chapter

For the 8th year, our Fries for 4H fundraiser was a success at the Hubbard County Fair.

More than 80 volunteers from R.D. Offutt Farms, Lamb Weston-RDO Frozen and Hubbard County 4-H teamed up to donate supplies, prepare the booth and staff the fryers and serving line. In total, the volunteers from Lamb Weston and R.D. Offutt Farms donated nearly 150 total hours to the event.

Volunteers sold 1,863 pounds of French fries which raised nearly $6,500 for local 4-H programming.

Hubbard County 4-H Extension Educator, Mari Jo Lohmeier, said this is the local 4H kids’ favorite fundraiser of the year. “The kids love it... they get to be very hands on and learn life skills while having fun. It’s also a great way to teach them the importance of giving back to their community”.

The money raised from this year’s fundraiser will be used for camp and state fair scholarships and yearly learning opportunities. Lohmeier also stated that this money ensures no child will ever miss out on an opportunity due to cost.

Fries for 4-H has been a summer staple for the Park Rapids team since 2016. Since then, the event has raised nearly $30,000.
